The siblings started out with ice dancing, but Joubert became fascinated with the jumping aspect of singles skating and switched disciplines.Joubert has been considered somewhat of a heartthrob in his native country, France.Since 2006 he has been on the panel of judges on ITV's Dancing on Ice and takes the position of head judge.
He is the 1980 Olympic champion, the 1980 European champion, a three-time (1978, 1979 & 1980) World medalist and four-time (1977, 1978, 1979 & 1980) British national champion.
As a coach, he has led both Kim Yuna (2010) and Yuzuru Hanyu (2014) to Olympic gold.
He also coached Javier Fernández to the 20 World titles.
He is the skating director at the Toronto Cricket, Skating and Curling Club. Orser won his first national title on the novice level in 1977.
The following season, he went to Junior Worlds and placed 4th, behind eventual rival Brian Boitano.
